Privacy Policy
Last updated: Sep 15, 2024
1. Introduction
Welcome to Mindfolder ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. This privacy policy explains how we save, use, and protect your data & personal information.
2. Data Storage and Private vs Public Folders
By default, your data (notes, images, videos, and folders) is stored locally on your device.
Data is only stored on our servers if you explicitly make a folder 'Public' by toggling the option in your settings.
When a Public folder is made public it remains at a private URL ex-
mindfolder.com/mmmda02785fa4e294d8e6b8046e64b2330d4f003b35
Generally, the data at these URLs will remain semi-private since it is nearly impossible to guess (and these URLs are not indexed or served from any other area of our site or services)
However, by sharing a link with another person, it should be considered public as there is no limitation on who can see or share that link from that point.
If you want to share a folder while keeping it private/only accessble to those you authorize, you can set a password (and share the password along with the link you share ie- to your friend or colleague) - this will help prevent the data in your folder from becoming more broadly accessible to the public.
3. Additional Data Saved
We may store:
- User account information (ex- email address )
- Anonymous usage data ex- generic activity log to help us debug problems, which may also include device information such as Operating System and screen size. Your IP address is anonymized and not saved nor associated with usage data. IPs are logged only in the context of DDos prevention and secure measures such as banning IPs that attempt to hack our services or bypass sign-in authentication or folder password authentication.
4. How We Save Data
We save data when you:
- Create an account
- Choose to make your folder 'Public'

We use your email to:
Provide you a way to securely access your folders and as a recovery option for retreiving access in the event you forgot a assowrd

We use anonymous usage data to:
- Improve performance, stability and debugging problems when they arise such as fixing bugs, flaws or security issues
6. Content Moderation
- To comply with law in jurisdictions prohibiting distribution of illegal imagery, we use an automated system to detect and prevent the upload of illegal or explicit images or video.
Images and videos uploaded to Mindfolder.com (ie- when you make a folder 'Public' or 'Web Sync') are automatically scanned using NSFW (Not Safe For Work) detection technology.
Content flagged as inappropriate will be rejected and not saved to our servers
We do not manually review or view images or videos

7. (Non) Use of Data in AI Models and Technologies
Your notes, images, or videos will NEVER be used to train AI models or in any AI-based technologies without your explicit consent.
We respect your privacy and the ownership of your content.
If we ever roll out a feature that can take advantage of AI technology it will be in the context of allowing you to do it via opt-in and selectively ie- so that you can choose what data you wish to make available to an AI assistant or model. Your decision to use optional AI feature(s) should they be made available in the future will never affect your ability to use our service.
